Description

In 2018, New York State became the first state in the country to become part of the AARP Age-Friendly Network. As New York continues to lead the way, the HealthlinkNY Community Network is offering a series of free workshops for local municipalities interested in learning more about becoming an AARP Age-Friendly Community. Through this series, local municipalities and their interested partners will learn more about planning to become an Age-Friendly Community and will hear from other communities and content experts on how to make communities livable for people of all ages.

This session will focus on the the Domains of Housing, Outdoor Spaces and Buildings. Participants will learn about design principles to used in buildings to promote lifelong use, local building codes to promote livability, municipal zoning codes, and other strategies designed to promote livability and create communities which promote a lifelong active lifesytle. Parking and lunch is provided at no charge to participants.
