Street Drugs and Driving, What You Need to Know. As legal marijuana spreads and the opioid epidemic rages on, the number of drugged drivers killed in car crashes is rising dramatically. Because of this, NHTSA is making the drug-impaired-driving problem a top national priority. Since recreational marijuana was legalized in Colorado, marijuana related traffic deaths increased 151% while all Colorado traffic deaths increased 35%. This workshop will provide valuable training to help identify legal and illicit substances of abuse, how they are used, the effect of illicit drugs on the user, traffic safety data, the connection between drugs and impaired driving, and provide an understanding of how drug use affects all of us.

Lynn Riemer Founder and President of ACT on Drugs, Inc., a Non-Profit organization, provides local, regional and national substance abuse education for professionals about addictive and psychoactive substances, both legal and illegal, which are available in their community. Lynn is also an Adjunct Professor with the School of Nursing, University of Northern Colorado and served with DEA and on the Denver North Metro Drug Task Force.
